A lot of girls out there, want to become models. Most of them go on ridiculous diet just to get the accurate size 0 to become a supermodel.
Modelling has a lot of categories, some types of modelling require you to be very skinny and some may want you to be a size 10. It all depends on the category/type you choose.
I used to be a runway model, it is the hardest and most successful type of modelling. Runway modelling is difficult because you must be close to perfection to get it right.
As a runway model, you are like a hanger for a designer and your main aim is to showcase the designer's outfit. This most be done excellently to enable you get future bookings.
TIPS FOR RUNWAY MODELLING
TIP 1: The Eyes
Your eyes should be focused straight ahead of you. Looking off into the distance. Just find something on the back wall and focus on it.
TIP 2: Chin
Your chin should be down slightly while runway modeling. The reason for this is because every one will be sitting, looking up at you. Also photographers would want to take shoots of you as you walk down the runway so to get better pictures, your chin should be down slightly.
TIP 3: Shoulders
They shouldn't move much at all. Your shoulders need to stay still as you walk. This can take a little getting used to but will not take long.
TIP 4: Arms
Stats for a Runway Model
Height
You must be 5'8 and above
Hips
Your hips must not be more than 37 inches
Waist
Your waist must not exceed 26 inches
Bust
Your bust should not be more than 36 inches
Some Successful models include:
Naomi Campbell 5ft 10 inches tall Measurement: 34-23-34 |
Heidi Klum 5 ft 9 inches tall, Measurement: 35-24-34 |
Oluchi Onweagba 6ft 1inches tall Measurement:34-24-35 |
Tyra Banks 5 ft 11 inches tall, Measurement:35-23-35 |
Adriana Lima 5 ft 10 inches tall, Measurements: 34-24-35 |
Gisele Bundchen 5ft 11 inches tall, Measurements: 36-24-35 |
A lot of models, when learning runway modeling, tend to swing their arms way too much. Your arms should only swing as much as your body makes them. Next time you watch a model runway modeling, watch and see how their lower arm is doing most of the swinging.
TIP 5: Hands
Now hands are surprisingly quite important while runway modeling. Now this is a good picture! Everything looks perfect, until they look at you hands! Why? Because you, like most people, had your fingers curled in and up slightly.
Always remember to have your hands open with your fingers nearly totally straightened. Not totally straight (you don't want to look like a robot), but out enough to be visible.
TIP 6: Legs
Legs refers to walking. Men just need to walk natural. The only difference is that you take longer strides. So instead of having 1.5 feet in between your strides increase it to 2.5 to 3 feet. The main point is to take long strides without making it look unnatural.
Women need to also take longer strides, but they need to walk with one foot in front of the other. This causes their hips to sway, which gives their arms the swing that was described in the arms section
TIP 7: Posture
This is fairly basic runway modeling tip. Stand straight up, with your shoulders back. No hunching! That looks insecure and disgusting.
